Through questionable decisions and circumstances beyond control, we spent the evening of the much ballyhooed "America 250" edition of Independence Day on Coney Island, in the final throes of a brutal heat wave, outdoors.
Why? An independent wrestling show, of course.
After spending an hour in the bleachers waiting for the sun to stop shining directly on our ringside seats – I love wrestling, but not enough to voluntarily suffer heat stroke – I happily discovered a rarity for my show photos: good natural lighting.
I've shot so much under challenging stage lighting; I'm used to deleting 90% after the show. My camera roll is normally a lot of blurry people flying through the air with a few good shots in between.
Not today. The iPhone camera sensor thrived in the summer sun. These pictures were fantastic - one of my favorite show sets I've ever shot.
