The Worst Show All Week

We can try, we can believe, we can dream...to be the worst.

Show #72

At some point in the run up to Vegas Mania, Dark Sheik – the mother brain behind Hoodslam, and haver of deep thoughts – started planning the worst show all Mania week.

"I don't know that I can do all the worst wrestlers, but I can definitely have only shit stipulations."
– Dark Sheik

Independent wrestling is a gift, and I have always been very willing to throw money at good ideas, so this became the first wrestling show I have sponsored. My wrestling instagram handle was on all the graphics, including announcement of legendary talent like the AC Unit Swamp Cooler:

Heading to Vegas, going was a no-brainer but timing became a challenge: with a "7ish" start time, this was going to run right into the must-see 8PM show I had schedule myself into a month prior.

So my time at WWWsWWF – a ring set up on the production floor of a brewery – was sadly short lived. I got to watch them shout (the microphone had gone MIA, living up to the worst production plan) the introduction to the first match: the Pat McAfee Memorial Two 5'5 Guys In A Forty-Five Minute Iron Man Match.

(I would explain this joke, but it might require a 500-word dissertation on kayfabe, current-day WWE politics, and the inevitable tension around "sports entertainment". Take my word, this joke is a killer. RIP Pat.)

I enjoyed the ten minutes - and one fall - I got of said ironman match between Kid Isaac and Sturdy Sal before I had to jump into a car to get to Death Vegas.

(I look forward to the inevitable DVD release to get to see the whole thing.)
